Hey dudes. I'm back on track with my lj. I've still been weighing in and working out, just haven't been logging in for my weekly weigh-in mainly because my wonderful husband surprised me with a Wii-Fit when I got back from Belize (on June 9). I love this thing...I'm obsessed! I haven't been taking my measurements either since I've been feeling so good lately (endurance, I feel strong, etc.) but I will definitely take them on August 1 so I can stay with the first of the month routine.

This week I gained, I've still been eating healthy and working out so I'm trying not to fret about the 1.2lbs. I gained this week. It's just a number after all and the progress I've made thus far certainly "outweighs" (hardy-har-har) a stupid number on the scale (especially a number that could easily be water-weight-gain). Anyway, with that being said, in a week I will be going out of the country for research for my dissertation. I'll be spending 3 weeks in steamy Belize, working outside on a daily basis in the middle of nowhere--- I will no doubt lose MORE weight while I'm there....I'll still be able to weigh-in next week (I'M GOING TO LOSE DAMNIT!) but after that, I won't be able to weigh-in for three weeks.

I am back yet again, and I'm not hanging my head in shame...because, frankly, what good does that do? Jonathan and I are wanting to start trying to conceive within the next few months (August 17, 2008 is the day we will begin ACTIVELY trying!) and after meeting with my new OB/GYN, I've decided to kick my weight loss into gear. Ok folks. I'm back. I've gained 1.6lbs. in the 2 months that I've neglected to weigh-in on a weekly basis (still 15.6lbs below start). I just finished mid-terms and I promised myself that after this stress that I would go back to having a regular weigh-in schedule. I find it strange that I feel better while I'm dieting and weighing-in on a regular basis, and yet I always kind of stop doing it for some reason (some excuse bla bla bla). You would think that you would continue to do what you feel good doing! Anyway, I will be weighing in again next Friday, so wish me luck! Here is to the wonderful week ahead!

Starting Over...

So, I'm back! After the most amazing day of my life (the most perfect wedding day anyone could ever ask for- I felt beautiful and thin!), and after our perfect Mediterannean cruise honeymoon, and FINALLY after moving from Florida to Maryland to start Graduate School ---I'm back!

Picture update )

So, after a long hiatus (~almost 8 months), I've only gained 6lbs. Not bad. I can't afford a personal trainer anymore since we're "poor newlyweds" and more importantly, the D.C. area is super EXPENSIVE to live in. But, our apartment complex does have an impressive gym that I definitely will be utilizing. Jonathan will be back in Florida for a month, so I'd like to challenge myself with no interuptions to see what I can actually accomplish by myself. Oh, and did I mention that I'm going to an all military school? I'm the only U.S. civilian that has been accepted, and these military people = in great shape....LOL...So, I think being there everyday will only motivate me more. My undergrad institution was way more laid back and liberal which only served to make me more laid back/lazy about physical health. Well, not anymore! My official start day is tomorrow!

The Anderson Method

http://www.andersonbehavioralhealth.com/

I started The Anderson Method a few weeks ago...and wow, I love it! I have weekly, individual sessions with Bill Anderson (the person who created it and used it himself!), and before I started going, I really thought I'd somehow be able to explain to another person what it's like...and I truly can't! I think a background in psychology would be beneficial to really understand what he teaches us. But basically, we eat low calories (I eat 800 calories M-F and 1200 calories Saturday and Sunday) but I wouldn't call it a diet because I honestly think less about food than I ever have since joining. We learn why we overeat in the first place and memorize behavioral strategies to "brainwash" our unconcious mind to change our habits- there's no willpower, there's no convincing ourselves we shouldn't eat something. We also have homework assignments and reading assignments. We take time out of our day to "daydream" and imagine ourselves how we want to be and eventually, it will be!...and TRUST ME, he has little demonstrations that prove it really works! Here are some local news reports about him and The Anderson Method (a reporter went on The Anderson Method 1.5 years ago and she's lost 70lbs!)

THIS WEEK & NEXT WEEK WORKOUT SCHEDULES )

Also, I forgot to take my measurements for October 1, so here they are )

I'm excited because as of right now, we will need to alter my wedding dress! woo-hoo! As you can probably already tell, I feel a lot better since last week. I worked out everyday this past week...and I've honestly been killing myself. Waking up at 5am to go running every day and then hurrying up to go to class, and THEN writing a thesis can really wear a girl out. But, through it all, I feel a lot better once I actually wake up and start my day (by the end of the day I'm zonked!). I think it has just been hard since I now have to go without coffee...It has been a morning ritual at the gym I go to, for all of us to workout with a cup of coffee and bottle of water, and I think it was that cup of coffee everyday that was my savior and kept me from feeling run-down. lol...Anyway, I guess I'm better without it even if I don't feel like it at 5am!

I didn't stick to my diet this week though. I really need to work on that. I'd do so well until about 7pm and then my mom or Jonathan would make dinner and I'd have some of theirs, sometimes what they were eating wasn't so bad, but sometimes it was. Either way, I feel like I've been eating less. I also have been taking my vitamins and fiber on schedule. But I haven't been drinking as much water as I should. So, this week: stick to diet and drink more water! 8 more weeks until I get the wedding dress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THIS WEEK & NEXT WEEK WORKOUT SCHEDULES )

My mom and I are trying a new diet that 2 ppl who work with my mom are doing. It's a high protein, low carb (<100 carbs per day) diet. In two months, two people have lost 20 pounds. If I can do that, I would be at 179 by Dec 1 and perhaps 149 by the wedding. I'll also be getting my wedding dress in about 9 weeks which puts me at around Dec 1. I'd be so happy if I could do that. I'm feeling bummed. My heart has good days and bad days, but I'm just going to keep working out even if I have bad heart days. I'm starting my workout regimen slowly...Anyway...yeah...new routine, I'm excited about it...and I'm hopeful because everyone knows low carb/high protein diets work. blah.

Since the last time I updated, I have:

1. finished my thesis research
2. started my last semester of my undergraduate career
3. got sick
4. had my heart problems return on me
5. slept an average of 11hrs/day
6. die of exhaustion and palpitations everyday
7. ate like CRAP/had no appetite
8. lost weight
9. have not worked out at all :(

Needless to say, I haven't been feeling well at all. However, I finally got over the cold or whatever the heck I had on Monday. My heart seems a little bit better since I've been to the doctor, but my cardiologist appointment isn't until Tuesday and Wednesday of next week (I get two appointments, aren't I lucky?). So, until I meet with him, I was instructed NOT to work out at all by my other doctor. I even asked if I could work out less strenulously, and he said, "no." :( So, that has been making me really sad lately. There is talk of putting me on beta blockers which will then make my heartrate go down much lower; even when I exercise it won't go above 10 or something crazy like that. ...and while I'm excited to see how that feels, and my personal trainer seems to think this is a good idea for my work out regimen, I'm a little cautious. I mean, I know my heart shouldn't be beating THIS fast (resting: 100, walking around the house: 120, working out: 190+) but I don't like being on medicine-- especially crazy medicine that effects something so majorly. Last time the cardiologist said he could prescribe them to me if I wanted (5 years ago), but he wanted me to see if I could deal with it without medication. Which, I have...but lately it has been bothering me more. I think since he was rather hesitant about giving them to me, I'm hesitating now too. Either way, I guess I'll know what I'm doing by Thursday.

In the weightloss world, I've lost weight, but I feel disgusting and depressed lately. I feel so freaking fat...and depressed, not because I'm fat...but just because. I swear, when I work out, it changes my brain. It's like I need to work out to be happy. So even though I swear I feel live I've gained 20lbs since I've stopped working out a week ago, as I promised myself, I would take my measurements at the beginning of each month....and today is September 1....so here we go )

Not bad I suppose. Last time I took my measurements I was a size 16 in Maggie Sottero, now I'm a size 14. In fact, my mom and I ordered ANOTHER wedding dress the other day. LOL...My other wedding dress was Maggie's Chantilly (in diamond white), which I got for $200 (amazing deal), which I love. But, Maggie just released her new dresses for Fall 2006 and I've been waiting for MONTHS to try on this one dress...and finally, it arrived at the store...and I sped there to finally try it on, and I loved it. :) It is called En Vogue, and I'm thrilled that I was able to order it in a size 14! horray! (I also ordered it in diamond white, so it will look less gold and more like a regular ivory color when I get it) It's SO pretty and I'm so proud of myself for waiting for it to come into the store--it was totally worth the wait once I got it on! It's not like any of the other dresses I've ever liked, I tended to stay away from big, poofy princess dresses and went with more plain dresses...but after thinking about it, I figure I'm only going to wear this beautiful dress for one day and I'm only going to get to be a "princess" for one day, so why not go all out? Anyway, I should get it in about 13 weeks, so around the beginning of December sometime. Talk about incentive to not overeat during the holidays!

Ok, so this entry started off really depressing, but now that I see how far I've come in such a short amount of time (about 2 months)...from a size 18 to a size 14 in wedding dresses...that makes me happy. And I get to marry my best friend who just-so-happens to love me just the way I am! How cool is that? Btw, we first fell in love when I was a 135lb, buff, little hottie...and then we got back together after I gained all of my weight from being sick. I'm lucky.
